My ticker felt a flicker,
Then grew sicker and still sicker,
As if an equine kicker
Had done violence to my chest.
An artery grown thicker
[NOT through soaking up strong liquor]
Resulted very nearly in a cardiac arrest...

Note: This, in brief, is the tale of my H/A on Friday 15th July at Castle Park School, while playing for Dalkey Archives v. Howth Taverners. To cut a long story short:
After the initial "kicks" on the field, I ended up at St.Vincents' where a marvellous team of doctors and nurses rescued me. *
*25. January 2012. It is now just over six months since my Heart Attack/Event 15.July 2011. My gratitude remains undiminished.
